I visited Hull intrigued to see what was happening for its forthcoming City of Culture status. Huge stretches of street appear to be in the process of being dug up and replaced, museums and theatres are being renovated as is the area around the harbour.

Further afield the scene appears less rosy and the effects of years of recession and austerity are evident in the numerous closed shops and businesses sporting optimistic 'for sale' and 'to let' notices.

My images concentrate on these fringe areas and don't do justice to the city as a whole but rather reflect the course of my wanderings.
